What does this test measure?
Reaction time is the delay between seeing something and responding to it. Here that means the time from the box turning green to your click. The green signal appears after a random wait, so you can't predict it. Click too early and the round is restarted, not counted.
What is a good reaction time?
| Average | Rating |
|---|---|
| Under 180 ms | ⚡ Exceptional — pro-gamer reflexes |
| 180 – 220 ms | 🐆 Very fast |
| 220 – 270 ms | 🐇 Above average |
| 270 – 330 ms | 🐱 Average |
| Over 330 ms | 🐢 Room to improve |
Your result also depends on your hardware. Monitor refresh rate, input lag and mouse latency can add 10–50 ms. Compare scores taken on the same setup.
How to improve your reaction time
- Sleep and caffeine: being well rested improves reaction time more than anything else. A moderate amount of caffeine helps a little.
- Focus on the centre: look at the middle of the box and rest your finger lightly on the button.
- Warm up: your first few rounds are usually slower, so take the average after a couple of practice runs.
- Lower latency: a high-refresh monitor and a wired mouse remove delay that isn't yours.
