How the spacebar counter works
Press the spacebar to start the 120 seconds timer, then keep tapping it as fast as you can. Every press counts once. Holding the key down doesn't, so auto-repeat can't inflate your score. When the timer ends you'll see your total presses, presses per second and a speed rank.
On a phone or tablet, tap the test area instead. Each tap counts as one press.
Why test spacebar speed?
- Gaming: jumping, dodging and many rhythm games depend on quick, repeated spacebar presses.
- Keyboard checks: make sure a new keyboard or switch registers every press without chatter (double inputs).
- Fun: it's a quick challenge to share with friends. Use the share button on the result screen.
Tips for a higher score
- Use two thumbs or alternate thumb and index finger to double your rate.
- Keep your fingers close to the key and make short, light presses.
- Linear, light switches (low actuation force) are faster than heavy or tactile ones.
