What is jitter clicking?

Jitter clicking is a technique where you tense the muscles in your forearm and wrist until your hand shakes slightly. That vibration moves your finger up and down on the mouse button much faster than ordinary clicking. Practised jitter clickers often reach 10–14 CPS, compared with 6–8 for normal clicking.

How to jitter click

  1. Rest your index finger on the left button with your wrist slightly raised off the desk.
  2. Tense your forearm, as if flexing, until your hand starts to tremble.
  3. Let that tremble drive your fingertip. Keep the movement small and keep your aim steady.
  4. Go in short bursts. Jitter clicking is tiring, and 10 seconds is a good practice length.

Stay safe

Holding your muscles tense for long periods can strain your wrist and forearm. Take breaks, stop if you feel pain or tingling, and don't use jitter clicking for long gaming sessions. If you want speed without as much strain, butterfly clicking, which alternates two fingers on one button, is gentler for many people.

Default length

This test runs for 10 seconds by default, which is long enough to show whether you can keep your jitter rhythm going. Change the duration from the menu at any time.
